250g Ground Coffee at Terres de Café

The 250g format remains the most popular choice for discovering specialty ground coffee: generous enough to get a real sense of a coffee origin, yet small enough to explore different coffees. Each bag features the same selection and artisanal roasting as our whole bean coffees, roasted in the Paris region. The grind size is adjusted according to the brewing method selected when ordering (filter coffee maker, moka pot, French press, espresso machine, compatible refillable capsules, Turkish coffee, etc.), ensuring that the coffee you receive is genuinely suited to your equipment.

How to Choose Your 250g Ground Coffee

Your choice depends primarily on the flavour profile you are looking for and the coffee processing method:

  • KSF Limmu Bedaye Washed Organic: a coffee from Ethiopia (Limmu region), produced by Khalid Shifa at his Bedaye washing station and certified organic. A classic washed Ethiopian coffee with notes of peach, sweet spices and milk chocolate.
  • La Josefina Sidra Washed: a coffee from Ecuador (Upper Amazon, Finca La Josefina), produced by Leopoldo Andrade using a washed process. A fruity cup with notes of passion fruit, apricot and guava.
  • La Josefina Sidra Natural: from the same farm and producer, this time using a natural process. A cup with notes of strawberry, blackberry and hibiscus, with more acidity than the washed version.
  • Finca Santa Maria — Castillo Caturra Late Harvest Washed: a coffee from Colombia (Nariño, Finca Santa Maria), produced from a late harvest and using a washed process, with notes of yellow fruit, dark chocolate and hazelnut.

These four coffees clearly illustrate the differences in flavour profile that can be created by different processing methods within the same terroir or even on the same farm, as demonstrated by the two versions of La Josefina.

250g Ground Coffee or Whole Bean Coffee: What's the Difference?

Whole bean coffee retains its aromas for longer than ground coffee because grinding exposes a larger surface area of the coffee to air, accelerating oxidation. Ground coffee is nevertheless the most convenient option if you do not have a grinder or simply want to save time every day. If you change your mind, our selection of whole bean coffee offers the same roasts, while our ground coffee by the kilo can be a more economical option if you drink coffee regularly.

Which Grind Size Should You Choose for Your Brewing Method?

The grind size directly affects extraction: a fine grind is suitable for espresso, a medium grind for filter coffee makers, and a coarser grind for French press or siphon brewing. This is why each ground coffee order specifies the intended brewing method. If you are unsure about your equipment, our coffee machine and coffee maker pages can help you choose.

How to Store 250g Ground Coffee

Store your ground coffee away from light, moisture and temperature fluctuations, in an airtight container at room temperature, and never keep it in the refrigerator. As grinding accelerates oxidation, it is best to consume a bag of ground coffee within a shorter period than an equivalent whole bean coffee.

FAQ

Is 250g ground coffee as fresh as whole bean coffee?

It comes from the same coffee lots and undergoes the same roasting process, but grinding accelerates oxidation. It is therefore best to consume it within a shorter period than an equivalent whole bean coffee.

Which grind size should I choose for my 250g ground coffee?

It depends on your brewing method: fine for espresso, medium for filter coffee makers, and coarser for French press or siphon brewing. This information is requested when you place your order.

What is the difference between washed and natural processing?

Washed processing generally produces a cleaner cup with more pronounced acidity, while natural processing tends to develop more body and fruit-forward notes, as illustrated by the two versions of La Josefina Sidra.

Can I choose a grind size suited to my coffee maker?

Yes. Each ground coffee is available with a choice of grind size according to your brewing method: filter coffee maker, moka pot, French press, siphon, espresso machine or compatible refillable capsules.
